This week, the Mid Louth Sustainable Energy Community signed a three year partnership agreement with Mr Jim Gannon CEO of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) at a meeting of the group held at the Market House. The agreement will develop a sustainable energy system for the benefit of the community of mid Louth, with the following objectives.
- Aiming as far as possible to be energy efficient
- Using renewable energy supplies where possible and considering smart energy solutions
- Developing a baseline Energy Masterplan and Register of Opportunities.
Eugene Conlon speaking on behalf of the S.E.C. outlined that they were delighted to be the first community in Ireland to sign this type of partnership. Louth has a very strong presence of business operating in the research and manufacturing of technologies in renewable energy such as air source heat pump technology, biomass, solar, wind, wave and smart technology, so we have built on this by taking a leadership position as a community through our pro-gramme of retrofitting 140 premises in Mid Louth to make them warmer, more efficient and using more renewable solutions in doing so. This is delivering on the SECs vision for the area set out over a year ago.
